The year 2021 was widely reported as the year of the staycation, with properties in every corner of the UK experiencing an enormous surge of demand. However, despite the appearance in the news and media, Winged Boots’ clients were still happily jet setting and enjoying time away in more exotic destinations and climates, with our most popular holiday hotspots being the United Arab Emirates, Spain, Maldives and Greece.

Winged Boots has well and truly found its feet in these strange times and is moving securely into 2022 with the swift ability and expert knowledge to interpret and adapt to new entry requirements and rules which are ever changing – so you don’t have to. We have built a strong reputation for pointing customers in the right direction for covid tests and travel insurance that includes coronavirus cover, as well as helping to adapt travel plans when necessary so that every angle is covered when you book your escape with a personal travel manager.

As we approach the new year, the excitement around travel begins to build once again, and the urge to make up for lost time has never been as strong. We’ve spoken to our personal travel managers, experts in their field and conversed with our partners in the industry across the globe to bring you our in-the-know travel trend predictions for 2022.

SO MUCH MORE SUSTAINABLE

Six Senses Laamu, Maldives

One hugely encouraging element of the world pressing pause at the beginning of the pandemic, was nature rebuilding and the Ozone layer healing. Air pollution in cities reduced significantly and nature began to restore itself, and as a result many are taking a new and more caring approach to their travel plans. One way holidaymakers are doing this is by paying close attention to a brand’s policies and opting to stay in hotels that have good sustainability models and invest well in to looking after the local community and environment.

Six Senses Con Dao, Vietnam

For example, resorts with turtle rehabilitation programmes and reef conservation facilities, properties that use locally grown products in its restaurants, hotels that operate off solar power alone and have a ban on single-use plastic, or resorts that are built from natural materials by local hands providing jobs and commerce for communities. One brand that pioneers sustainable travel is Six Senses. It boasts a collection of 21 luxury resorts in some of the most beautiful destinations around the world, including the Maldives, Ibiza, Vietnam and Oman, all of which put people and our planet at the heart of their ethos.

Post-pandemic, travel has become more spontaneous with many taking the attitude of you don’t know what may happen tomorrow. The result? The trend of booking last-minute holidays is sharply on the rise. Gone are the days when we are happy to sit with a loved one over a glass of wine and discuss the many escapes we will have soon or at some point. Attitudes have changed and it is no longer a 'we should' conversation, instead it's 'we will' with diaries co-ordinated on the spot.

We don’t predict this trend to slow down in 2022 and instead can see the popularity of booking a last-minute holiday sticking around for years to come. Whether you’re planning a European weekender or spontaneous family escape, Winged Boots’ team of personal travel managers are well equipped to organise the perfect holiday at the drop of a hat. Simply put your pin in the map and let us do the rest. Enquire today!

After being starved of international holidays for so long, 2022 is the year to make travel count. Getting away is becoming easier and with entry restrictions relaxing there’s no time like the present to book that dream holiday and tick off a bucket list destination. Wave goodbye to a few small breaks spread throughout the year instead save up your annual leave for one longer, more epic, trip of a lifetime. We’re predicting the resurgence of the 21-night break!

Arctic Treehouse, Finland

We have also noticed that holidaymakers have a growing desire to move away from their regular holidays to familiar or nostalgic destinations and are excited to step out of their comfort zone to immerse themselves in new destinations, cultures, and experiences. So, if you’ve dreamt of that road trip in California, longed to go on an African safari, wished to take that once-in-a-lifetime Finland adventure to stay at the Arctic Treehouse Hotel or maybe climb to the top of the Eiffel Tower after a night at the Shangri-La Hotel Paris – what are you waiting for? There is no time like the present to contact your personal travel manager today on 0203 816 0985. It is time to stop dreaming and start living out your wildest wanderlust adventures in 2022.

WONDERFUL WELLBEING

The importance of finding a good work/life balance, prioritising our mental wellbeing and taking time for self-care is becoming more and more important. This is visible even in the travel world, with holidaymakers choosing trips that will benefit their overall health and wellbeing on the rise. From hotels that boast outstanding sport and fitness facilities, world-class spas and dedicated detox centres, hotels that can offer the right kind of respite for an individual are growing dramatically in popularity. In 2022 we foresee the need to put self-care ahead of everything else and we forecast a huge rise in trips centred around relaxation with lots of people taking extra time and effort to turn off from external stresses left behind at home. Some will get a thrill from simply choosing a relaxing beach retreat where they can read a book in peace and quiet. While others will go the whole hog and satisfy their wanderlust with trips to exotic yoga and health retreats, where they are guaranteed to put down digital devices, immerse themselves in their destination and return feeling completely refreshed. If you are looking to boost your wellbeing in 2022, find inspiration for wellness breaks around the world on our website and discover a fine collection of properties and destinations that await. Find your perfect match today.

At the tail end of 2021 we saw an increase in businesses travelling overseas to attend conferences or visit offices across the pond. For 2022, we foresee this growing, however our biggest prediction for corporate travel is the return of the travel incentive. Proven as one of the most successful ways to motivate staff, increase office morale and in turn boost company figures, a travel incentive is a worthwhile investment. Choose between a long weekend skiing Europe’s finest slopes or visiting Monaco during the F1 Grand Prix or why not offer a whistle-stop tour of Dubai merging culture with beach clubs and luxury hotels? Winged Boots’ personal travel managers are well versed in organising incentive travel and bespoke itineraries to suit your travelling party, right down to organising tee times, spa treatments, restaurant and table reservations and the transfers to shuttle you all around in between. Check out Winged Boots’ dedicated business wing and to learn how we can help take the pressure off booking your travel requirements.

TRIPS WITH ALL YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY

After experiencing months when it was difficult to see family and spend time with loved ones, there has been a dramatic resurgence in multi-generational travel, and we see no signs of this slowing down as we move into the new year. A three-generational holiday gives grandparents, parents and children an opportunity to make happy memories all together. Taking a trip as a family is a great way to claw back missed family interaction, re-celebrate birthdays and make up for lost time. So, why stop there? And invite further extended family and friends along too! Whether you choose to stay in a cottage in the British countryside or on an island in the Indian Ocean it’s up to you, but we guarantee the memories you will make will be longer lasting when you have put aside dedicated time to spend with each other.
