It’s been the talking point of the country since the four-day weekend was announced, but now the Platinum Jubilee is fast approaching we wanted to share our top five royal events that are happening this weekend.

1. The Queen’s Birthday Parade (Trooping the Colour)

Kicking off the celebrations is The Queen’s Birthday Parade taking place on the 2nd June 2022. Starting at Buckingham Palace, more than 200 horses, 400 musicians and 1,400 soldiers will lead the movement. They will then be joined at various points by members of the royal family on horseback and in carriages. The event will end with a RAF fly over while The Queen and key royal members will watch from the infamous Royal Balcony.

If you are planning a visit to Buckingham Palace, then be sure to book a room at The Stafford Hotel, Westminster. You will be back at this five-star hotel in under 10 minutes’ walking from the royal home, where you will be greeted with timeless décor and English charm, not forgetting the on-site cocktail bar.

2. Service of Thanksgiving, St Paul’s Cathedral

On the 3rd June 2022, St Paul’s Cathedral will be holding the Service of Thanksgiving for The Queen’s 70 years of reign, which will be a closed and private service. However, as of the 25th May, St Paul’s has opened a brand new exhibition Jubilee: St Paul’s, the Monarch and the Changing World, which explores three centuries of the Jubilee history, now open to the public.

The St Pauls area is extremely central and well connected with bustling bars, restaurants, and hot spots that you will want to explore. Once you have exhausted the day, your luxury room will be calling at The Rosewood London. A 10-minute cab ride will have you back to your suite in no time, where you can relax in your bathtub or rest in the ultra-comfy beds. For those not ready to turn in, get a nightcap in the cosy award-winning bar.

3. The Cazoo Derby at Epsom Downs

Located in Epsom, Her Majesty The Queen will journey to Epsom Downs for The Cazoo Derby on the 4th June, accompanied by other members of the royal family. With a prize pot of £1.125 million, this is Britain’s most prestigious race.

If, like the royals, you’re one for the races and looking for a finer place to stay, The Mitre Hotel is just a 30-minute drive from Epsom Downs. It boasts, vibrant rooms and a stunning location set along the River Thames and opposite Hampton Court Palace.

4. BBC’s Platinum Party at the Palace

The celebrations will continue on the 4th June as the BBC hosts the Platinum Party live on BBC One at Buckingham Palace. Famous musicians and dancers such as Queen + Adam Lambert, Hans Zimmer, Duran Duran and Diversity, will share a three-stage set in a huge star-studded line up. They will also be joined by those who have made an impact in the fashion, sporting and environmental worlds’ and it is set to be a truly special evening.

A Platinum Party would not be complete without a Platinum place to stay, so be sure to book a room at Four Seasons Hotel London Park Lane. Set in the heart of Mayfair and just a 10-minute walk from Buckingham Palace, Four Seasons London is the perfect after-party staycation with an Amaranto Bar and exquisite rooftop spa.

5. Platinum Jubilee Pageant

Our final pick takes us to Sunday 5th June and it’s the Platinum Jubilee Pageant. This event will be everything an international parade and carnival can offer, with theatre, circus, costumes, music, and street art to celebrate Her Majesty The Queen. Children’s artwork from across the UK will be displayed, showing their aspirations and hope for the planet over the next 70 years, with the flag designs being centred around around climate change.

Take a royal recharge after a day in the city with a stay at Brown’s Hotel. This five-star hotel is in the busy shopping district of Mayfair, and with a guestbook featuring authors, presidents, and the royals themselves, you won’t want to miss a night in this quintessentially British hotel.

Whatever your plans may be for the long weekend, you can be sure that there will be some Jubilee festivities wherever you are, and you can stay up to date on the official Platinum Jubilee website
