Enter a world of immersive entertainment in the skies with British Airways’ trial of virtual reality headsets, AlloSky. Designed not only to enhance your time in the air, but to ease travellers who may be scared of flying, the airline has thought of it all.
Virtual reality has the power to revolutionise in-flight entertainment
The VR headsets are available for passengers travelling in first class on select flights from London Heathrow to New York JFK, after British Airways gave customers a sneak peek of the new Club World cabin through similar technology earlier this year, to a great reception.
Wave goodbye to flicking through endless films, programmes and games on your TV, because with the headsets designed by eyewear specialists, SkyLights, you’ll have the choice between 2D, 3D or 360-degree viewing. You can even enjoy the show while chilling out and laying fully flat, which won’t inhibit the headset.
The airline has also worked with experts to create a range of therapeutic programmes designed to help customers with a fear of flying, such as sound therapy and guided meditation.
Sajida Ismail, Head of Inflight Product at British Airways, said: “We’re always looking at the latest technology to enhance our customers’ experience on the ground and in the air.
“Virtual reality has the power to revolutionise in-flight entertainment and we’re really excited to trial these new glasses as they should create a unique and memorable journey for our First customers”.
British Airways has pipped other UK airlines to the post in being the first to introduce this technology and, combined with other launches, it has celebrated its centenary year in style.
You may reach new heights in the air, but once on the ground the exclusive experiences don’t stop, with the new Club Lounge at JKF yours to enjoy on your journey home.
