A powerhouse of towering skyscrapers, five-star hotels and oversized shopping malls, Dubai City is making waves as a popular spot for UAE visitors… and with its never-ending list of must-sees, must-dos and must-eats, it’s easy to see why.

What this area of Dubai lacks in pristine beaches and watersports, it more than makes up for with its world-class dining options and one-of-a-kind experiences. Outrageous is not in this city’s vocabulary. Just take Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest skyscraper for example.

The enormous Dubai Mall is one of the key reasons why visitors flock to this luxury holiday destination. Boasting high end boutiques such as Cartier, Chanel and Christian Louboutin alongside a plethora of high-end restaurants and a lake of dancing fountains, we highly recommend a visit here.

For a shopping trip with a difference, visit Mall of the Emirates and check out the indoor ski resort. Alternatively, for a more typical Middle Eastern adventure head to the Gold and Spice Souk. Barter with the stall holders in one of these authentic bazaars and pick up a truly unique souvenir to remember your stay.
If you’re visiting on business, take your corporate matters outside of the boardroom and head to the Meydan Racecourse for a vivacious atmosphere and all-round good time. Have a flutter on the horses or go for a quick round of nine-holes on the nearby golf course before kicking back with a glass of the good stuff before shaking hands.

It would be a crime to visit Dubai and not dip your toes in the azure waters of the Gulf. Many of the hotels on The Palm and Jumeirah Beach boast private stretches of coastline reserved just for its guests, however The Walk near Jumeirah Beach offers a gorgeous stretch of pristine white sands that’s open to the public.

Dubai City In A Nutshell

Tastes To Try

  • For fine-dining and breathtaking views of The Dubai Fountains and the vibrant Downtown Dubai neighbourhood, head to Armani Hotel Dubai and, more specifically, Armani Amal restaurant. Here, send your taste buds on a culinary journey from north to south India with a menu of exotic curries, tandoor specialties and fragrant side dishes.
  • For a menu of choice, head to Citywalk for a plethora of bars, restaurants and cafes. From established fast food chains and bakeries to delicious Italian restaurants and family-friendly eateries, it will satisfy all your dining requirements.

Family Fun Guaranteed

  • Just for its sheer contradiction, how about a spot of skiing? Yes, that’s right, there’s a 22,500-metre indoor ski area in this desert city. At Ski Dubai, located in Mall of the Emirates, one of the largest malls in the world, you’ll have 6,000 tonnes of snow at your disposal. Whether you want to learn the basics or perfect your skills and fly off a ramp, don your salopettes and give it a whirl.
  • Alternatively, head to Dubai Mall and watch the mesmerising dancing fountains outside. Designed by the masterminds behind The Bellagio’s daily show in Las Vegas, the Dubai alternative’s jets reach heights of 150 metres and dance to a symphony of different hits from classical music to pop classics.

Soak Up The Culture

  • You’ve heard of horse racing and dog racing, but what about camels? This ancient Middle Eastern tradition can be spectated at Al Marmoum Camel Racing where the ‘jockeys’ are actually robots – yes, you did read that correctly – and the camels reach impressive speeds of 40kmph. Approximately half an hour by car from Downtown Dubai, it’s definitely worth the trip.
  • For a true taste of Middle Eastern living, head to a souk. The most famed marketplace in Dubai, the Gold Souk is a must-see. Located in Deira, near the Al Ras Metro Station, the mesmerising passageways are filled with bespoke jewellery pieces from an array of tradesman and artists. Alternatively, visit the Spice Souk (Gold Souk’s neighbour) to awaken the senses.
