Ibiza

Ibiza is one of the beautiful Balearic Islands, an archipelago of Spain in the Mediterranean Sea. It’s well known for its lively nightlife in Ibiza Town, San Antonio and Playa d'en Bossa as well as its idyllic beaches, rustic finca architecture, charming villages and boho-chic bars. Showcasing the cream of Europe’s DJ’s with the likes of David Guetta, Luciano and Sven Väth et al, among those taking to the stage, the island is a holy ground for clubbers. Although surprisingly it does have a very peaceful side. Eco-friendly hotels, secluded beaches, mellow cafes and towns steeped in rich history are just waiting to be explored. It’s an island of contradictions and a sure bucket list destination.

Famed for its beach parties and iconic nightclubs, Ibiza is always a good time. The centre of the globe’s clubbing scene where hits are born and world-class DJ’s spin the decks into the night. Music lovers will go nuts for the blend of musical excellency showcasing an epic mix of old and new, providing you with unforgettable summer anthems and unrivalled soundtracks. With some of the most renowned venues in the universe, expect for events to be rotating back to back.

Then there’s the other chapter of Ibiza, stepped in rich heritage and home to yoga retreats, sandy coves, hills blanketed with wild flowers and medieval architecture. Why not embark on a journey of island discovery and experience the laid-back villages and embrace the authentic culture?

On foot and in sensible shoes is the best way to explore Ibiza’s enchanting old town, known as ‘Dalt Vila’. Make your way through the winding, cobbled streets and uncover the ancient courtyards and Gothic Catalan buildings overhanging the paths. Sturdy wooden doors will lead you to remote chapels, art galleries and rustic cathedrals. Uninterrupted vistas of the harbour and the surrounding castle can also be found in Dalt Vila. Don’t forget your camera for this UNESCO World Heritage site is said to stun.

The island of trend also plays host to many high-end restaurants, stylish ports, fashionable boutiques and well-dressed bars. Northern towns like Puerto San Miguel and Portinatx boast stretches of unspoiled sands and a relaxed ambience while further South, Cala Llonga offers a similarly chilled atmosphere and stunning landscapes.

Santa Eulalia offers a happy medium between lively and laid back and is a favourite with families thanks to its sweep of pale sands, eateries and activities. Formentera makes for a great day out offering bright-white beach strips with Blue Flag status, seafood serving huts, rustic markets and traditional eateries while Playa’den Bossa has everything from minimalistic seaside apartments to top-notch resorts.

With its gleaming Mediterranean, sandy shores and coastal paths, Ibiza is a fantastic place for outdoor sports. Choose between stand-up paddle boarding in calming waters, snorkelling, cycling or parasailing. Alternatively, why not go horse riding through the Ibizan fields and farmland, check out the rock secret grottos on a majestic cave tour or embark on a rock climbing quest? There are activities for everyone wet or dry, so bring the kids along and stay fit with unlimited island adventures.

With hotels ranging from family friendly resorts boasting fantastic facilities and amenities to secluded adult-only hotels, there is something to suit all holiday types. Accommodation ranges from modern classic and eco-cool to mountain hideaways and luxury pads. Also, Ibiza has a long history as a spiritual centre so if meditation is your thing, why not set your sights on the detox retreats, harmonising spaces and yoga camps?

While the outdoor hydrotherapy circuits and breath-taking spas will leave you totally reenergised, you will be spoilt for choice when it comes to your palate. From fresh fruit smoothies and healthy bites to authentic Spanish bistros, fresh seafood eateries and fine dining restaurants, prepare for your taste buds to be seduced throughout.
