A sea of khaki and tweed alongside a path of muddy footprints can only mean one thing – Winged Boots’ first annual clay pigeon shoot event at Royal Berkshire Shooting School. Hosted on Friday 11th October, the grey clouds couldn’t dampen our spirits as 50 Winged Boots customers alongside staff and representatives from luxury hotel group One&Only – our fantastic sponsors for the event – took their aim to compete for the top spot.

With 10 stands and a simulated pheasant flush, the smell of gunpowder was in the air as 15 teams of 4 contended for the top titles; Top Gun, Top Lady Gun and Top Team. And with complimentary nights at some of the most luxurious resorts in the world up for grabs, everyone had their eye on the clays.

Our expertise, worldwide connections, and the way we do things with a relentless drive means whatever your travels needs are, we can make it happen for you whenever, however, wherever and every time.

“It was a great day – even if it did rain – and I want to extend my sincere gratitude to everyone at Royal Berkshire Shooting School. Jono especially was a fantastic host, however everyone at the school contributed to what was an extremely successful event,” said David Ox, Winged Boots’ managing director. “Thank you again to One&Only for your sponsorship. We wouldn’t have been able to raise nearly as much money for Haven House Children’s Hospice without your support, and of course, thank you to all our guests for coming along, getting stuck in to the day and getting behind such a worthy charity. The money we have raised is going to really impact some local people’s lives and I am thrilled that collectively we can donate £5335 to such an amazing cause.”

The event concluded with a fantastic three-course lunch, prepared by The Wild Fork, comprising a smoked ham pressé with English muffin, truffle emulsion and quails egg to start, Hampshire beef with the trimmings for main and white chocolate bread and butter pudding with rum and raisin ice cream for dessert alongside a cheese board.

It was then time for prize giving where our extremely generous sponsors One&Only donated complimentary nights to three of its worldwide resorts. With a passion for scouting out the finest, and often untouched, destinations in the world, One&Only is passionate about marrying impeccable service, exquisite style and breath-taking scenery. A stay at any of its resorts is sure to make the holiday hall of fame.

"I attend a lot of events but this one stands out for three main reasons," said Craig Jeffs, sales manager at One&Only. "It was an activity I had never done before and that added a unique aspect to a client event. Everyone who attended was there to support an amazing charity, relax and have fun. The networking opportunity was done in a very relaxed manner - it felt more like talking to friends rather than clients."

Lisa Collins, sales operations manager at One&Only commented: "It was a truly memorable day with great team work and great fun with the Royal Berkshire Shooting team. The team at Winged Boots made us feel so welcome - I'm looking forward to the next one."

"What an amazing day," said Charlotte Dijkman, sales and marketing support at One&Only. "It was nice to not only support Winged Boots and its clients but to also suport an amazing charity. I can't wait to start planning the next event with the team."

Taking top spot for the day was Templa Events, made up of Reshma Timpson, Andrew Timpson, Giles Milner and Piers Carroll. The two top shooters were also in this team with Reshma scooping Top Lady Gun and three-nights to One&Only Le Saint Géran in Mauritius while Piers Carroll took Top Gun and a two-night stay at One&Only Reethi Rah in the Maldives. Jon Macrae of team Peaky Blinders came in third and was awarded a three-night stay at Dubai’s One&Only Royal Mirage.

Of course, let’s not forget our clay conservationist team, those who hit the least amount of clays throughout the day. Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, which included Andy Lavin, Peter Andersen, Robert Poutch And Thomas Bentley, our sincere commiserations, but there’s always next year!

Finally, there was the raffle where our customers’ generosity really shined through. After running out of tickets and having to improvise with homemade ones, we’re proud to say that we raised a staggering £5,335. Every penny of which will go to Haven House Children’s Hospice.

Congratulations to our winners and a huge thank you to our prize donators including One&Only, Corinthia Hotel London and some of our lovely customers Andy Lavin, Robert Poutch and Thomas Bentley who donated additional prizes on the day to help raise even more money.
