There’s a rare kind of freedom that comes with a journey measured in weeks, not days. When the rush dissolves, curiosity takes the lead and routines soften. Meanwhile, places have space to settle into memory, not just photographs. These extended escapes are crafted for travellers who prefer depth over dash. Below, we outline some of our favourite destinations that are best unveiled with time on your side; one conversation, one view, one quiet surprise at a time.

Australia is a land of vivid contrasts. Urban edges give way to scorched desert as reef meets rainforest. There’s no single narrative, only a rolling series of dramatic shifts in colour, pace and perspective.
Begin in Sydney, where the energy of the harbour sets the tone. Stay at Park Hyatt Sydney, where floor-to-ceiling windows frame the Opera House like a living painting. This is a city that blends confidence with creativity. Start your day with a swim at Bondi or a breezy ferry ride across the bay, while evenings slip easily into wine bars, gallery openings or long dinners by the water.
Fly south to Melbourne, where the tempo softens as the character deepens. This city moves to a quieter, more introspective rhythm shaped by local charm and layered history, and Crown Towers Melbourne provides a refined base in the heart of it all. Meanwhile, beyond the centre, wine regions, coastal drives and art-filled neighbourhoods invite slow exploration. Give it time, and the creative spirit of Australia’s cultural capital gradually reveals itself to you.
Then, journey inland to Uluru, where the colours of the earth shift with the light and silence carries its own kind of presence. At Longitude 131°, eco-conscious tented pavilions rise just beyond the dunes, each one perfectly positioned to frame the sacred sandstone monolith. Stillness defines the landscape, but this is no passive retreat. Guided walks, Indigenous storytelling and vast, starlit skies offer connection as much as calm.
No trip to Australia would be complete without a good helping of sand and salt. While Sydney has its share of beautiful beaches, nothing quite compares to the otherworldly wonders of the Great Barrier Reef. This is where the coastline softens and the water begins to tell its own story. The Whitsundays and reef-fringed islands offer a gentler kind of adventure, where rainforest meets coral and your days are shaped by the tides. For luxury without interruption, Lizard Island is the place. Set right on the reef, it offers rare access to vibrant marine life and deserted beaches that feel entirely your own. Not to mention the private coves, curated snorkelling spots and the sense of total seclusion that comes from being on a remote island with just a handful of fellow guests.
Australia rewards the long view, and a month lets you stitch its diverse stories together – from the urban, to the astoundingly remote, to the beauty of its laid-back coastal hideaways.

Japan resists simplification. It’s a place where precision and chaos exist side by side, where the ultramodern and the deeply traditional are not in conflict, but in quiet conversation. Spend a month here and those contradictions start to soften. Not by resolving, but by revealing the delicate threads that hold everything together.
Begin in Tokyo, a city that defies comparison. It's not one place but a constellation of neighbourhoods, each with its own rhythm. Stay at The Peninsula Tokyo, where soaring views and serene interiors provide a welcome counterpoint to the kaleidoscope below. Mornings might begin with matcha and skyline views, afternoons in Shibuya or Ginza, and evenings squeezed into sushi counters or listening to jazz in an underground bar. Tokyo can feel overwhelming at first, but lean into its energy and it begins to unfold with surprising grace.
From there, travel west to Kyoto, where the atmosphere shifts and the city carries itself with grace. At Aman Kyoto, mossy forest paths lead to rooms designed to reflect the surrounding stillness. Here, meaning hides in the details – from the intricately performed movements of a traditional tea ceremony to the exquisitely made crafts, created using centuries of expertise. Shrines appear around corners, incense drifts through narrow lanes and the beauty is often found in the marvellously understated.
Look north, and a different Japan awaits. In Hokkaido, mountain air sharpens the senses. Snow-dusted forests, volcanic hot springs and far fewer crowds create a slower, more elemental kind of travel. In spring, cherry blossoms arrive late. In winter, the slopes of Niseko and beyond promise world-class powder and an après-ski scene rooted in quiet onsens and hearty local cuisine. It’s a region that feels both distant and deeply welcoming.
To complete the journey, turn south to Okinawa, a subtropical archipelago that offers warmth in every sense. Coral reefs, soft beaches and a distinctive cultural identity shaped by the Ryukyu Kingdom set these islands apart. The pace is unhurried, the food nourishing and the people known for their longevity and generosity. On Miyako Island, Rosewood Miyakojima offers a refined entry point to this gentler side of Japan – a place where minimalist design meets oceanfront serenity, and where every detail, from dining to spa rituals, is shaped by the ebb and flow of the sea. It’s the perfect setting to dip your toe into Okinawa’s softer light and slower way of life.
No single place can define Japan. But spending time across its varied regions – from futuristic skylines to forested temples, snow-covered peaks to island retreats – brings you closer to understanding its complexity. The beauty lies not in the contrasts, but in how beautifully they coexist.

This part of the world doesn’t rush, and nor should you. A month in the Himalayan region allows for something more profound than a sightseeing tour. It’s a quiet conversation between mountain and mind, body and soul.
Start in India, with the Golden Triangle. Delhi, Agra, Jaipur – three cities humming with heritage and life. Between the sandstone forts and marble mausoleums, you’ll find spice-filled markets, rooftop cafés and artisans whose skills are centuries old. With the right guide, these places stop feeling distant and instead begin to speak, as if directly to you.
From there, the foothills call. In the Himalayan north, towns like Rishikesh or Darjeeling offer softer air and slower mornings as temples line the riverbanks and yoga and Ayurveda aren’t just on offer but embedded in the rhythm of daily life. Nestled in the forested hills above Rishikesh, Ananda in the Himalayas captures this atmosphere perfectly. Set within a former maharaja’s palace estate, it blends holistic wellness with refined comfort, offering space to recalibrate both body and mind while gazing out over the Ganges valley below.
Cross into Nepal and the contrast is immediate. In Kathmandu, the past still pulses in the present and intricate stupas, prayer wheels and incense-swirled courtyards all hint at a spiritual continuity. Venture into the countryside near Pokhara or the Annapurna region and you'll find trails that twist through rhododendron forests and mountain villages. These are landscapes that reward wanderers (and wonderers), not watchers.
Complete the arc in Bhutan, where the phrase Gross National Happiness is more than a slogan. It’s felt in the quiet of cliffside monasteries, in the clear air of the many valleys, in the hospitality of locals who live simply and thoughtfully.
This is not a place you race through. It’s a place that invites you to stop, look inward and feel small in the best possible way.

South America isn’t a place that fits neatly into categories. Landscapes shift dramatically, cultures overlap and the natural world is constantly present, not just as scenery but as something that shapes how you move and feel. With a month to explore, the continent begins to make sense in its own wild, unfiltered way.
Your journey begins in northern Chile, deep in the Atacama Desert. This is a land defined by extremes: salt flats that glow white under the sun, moonlike valleys carved by wind and time and high-altitude lagoons that mirror the sky in startling clarity. Days end beneath a sky lit by stars so vivid they almost seem unreal. At Awasi Atacama, a boutique lodge in San Pedro, personalised guiding and a private 4WD vehicle allow you to explore these landscapes on your own terms, whether that’s visiting geysers at dawn, cycling through canyons or sitting in stillness as the sun slips below the horizon.
From the desert, fly south into Patagonia, where Chile and Argentina meet in a sweep of glacial lakes, wind-carved plains and jagged granite peaks. Here, nature feels immense and uncontained, yet at Awasi Patagonia, you’re placed right in the heart of it all without sacrificing comfort. The private villas open onto vast views of Torres del Paine and each guest is matched with a guide who can shape your days to match your interests, from long hikes to hidden valleys to slower explorations by 4x4 with the occasional guanaco grazing nearby. It’s a place that feels remote but never disconnected.
Next, the journey continues east to the Atlantic rainforest near Iguazú. The falls are spectacular but it’s the biodiversity of the jungle that adds richness to the experience. Tucked into the trees is Awasi Iguazú, where individual villas sit on stilts above the forest floor and private guides help you uncover a side of the region that most visitors miss. With flexible excursions, you can explore both the Argentine and Brazilian sides of the falls, visit indigenous communities or simply watch toucans and monkeys from the comfort of your plunge pool.
For those with time to spare, adding Peru creates a beautiful counterpoint. The Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu offer altitude, archaeology and a depth of cultural history that ties in naturally with what you’ve already seen. Alternatively, hop across the border from Argentina into beautiful, boisterous Brazil, where the music is loud, the food speaks to your soul and there’s always a party somewhere. It’s a way to extend the journey and add another layer to an already rich story.
South America doesn’t ask to be understood all at once. But give it time, move through its contrasts slowly and you’ll come away with more than just a collection of landscapes. You’ll have a sense of its scale, its spirit and the incredible diversity that makes this part of the world so unforgettable.

Some landscapes don’t need to be dramatised. They already feel like film sets brought to life. New Zealand is one of those places: a country where mirror-like lakes, snow-capped peaks and ancient forests create a sense of scale that is both grounding and awe-inspiring. Everything appears in high definition as each element of nature is heightened, textured and deeply present.
Begin at Rosewood Kauri Cliffs, set above the untouched beaches of the Bay of Islands. This is coastal New Zealand at its most cinematic, with golden sand, rolling greenery and dramatic headlands stretching into the sea. Take to the water on a private boat cruise through the bay, where dolphins and orcas glide between islands, or tee off on one of the world’s most spectacular golf courses, etched into cliffs that overlook the Pacific.
Next, travel south to Huka Lodge in Taupō, a riverside retreat where natural beauty and refined luxury meet. Soar above volcanic craters, geothermal valleys and tumbling waterfalls on a private helicopter safari before returning to the calm of the lodge. Here, elegant interiors, impeccable service and seasonal cuisine offer a deep sense of tranquillity.
From there, continue to Rosewood Cape Kidnappers in Hawke’s Bay. This is New Zealand’s wine country, with a twist. Vineyards sprawl across coastal cliffs, and the views are as captivating as the vintages. Enjoy gourmet tastings, farm-to-table dining and time to explore art deco towns and the region’s growing food scene.
Further south, Wharekauhau Country Estate offers a taste of rural life with a luxurious edge. Set above the black-sand beaches of Palliser Bay, this working sheep station blends open skies, rolling hills and warm hospitality. Horse ride across the estate, explore rugged coastal trails or simply relax with long dinners made from locally sourced ingredients.
Cross to the South Island and take a breath at Te Koi, The Lodge at Bronte. Nestled between orchards and sea near Nelson, it is an ideal place to reset. Spend your days kayaking along the Abel Tasman coastline or reading in peaceful seclusion with views across the estuary.
In Christchurch, Otahuna Lodge brings a touch of heritage charm. This historic homestead is known for its grand Victorian gardens, thoughtful service and quietly sophisticated atmosphere. Cruise the Akaroa Peninsula to spot rare Hector’s dolphins or visit local wineries set against the dramatic backdrop of Banks Peninsula.
Next, venture deep into the Southern Alps for the most remote part of the journey. Minaret Station Alpine Lodge, accessible only by helicopter, is a luxurious yet remote mountain escape surrounded by soaring peaks and untamed wilderness. Heli-hiking, glacier walks, fly fishing and backcountry picnics create an unforgettable sense of adventure, balanced by roaring fires and chef-prepared meals at the day’s end.
Conclude your journey in Queenstown at Rosewood Matakauri, a serene retreat overlooking Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkables range. Whether you choose to unwind in the spa, sip Central Otago wine by the fire or take one final helicopter tour into Fiordland, this is a fitting finale to an extraordinary trip.
New Zealand rewards time. With a month to explore, you can follow the quiet roads, take the scenic route and experience both islands at your own rhythm. This is a destination where the journey itself becomes the story.
Our Senior Marketing Executive, Jadeene, recently returned from an incredible month-long journey around New Zealand. Here's what she had to say about her experience:
“There’s something really special about New Zealand, especially when you travel slowly. We started in the North Island and finished in Queenstown, giving each destination space to breathe. I did a week on each island, but if I were to plan it again, I’d allow two weeks per island. There is simply so much to discover.
“We travelled by campervan, and I genuinely think it’s the best way to see the country. It gave us the flexibility to linger where we wanted, to take the scenic route, to wake up beside lakes and forests that felt like private hideaways. And while you can keep things simple, there are also premium campsites with incredible views, excellent facilities and a real sense of tranquillity. It felt immersive, without ever feeling uncomfortable.
“For those who enjoy a sense of adventure, it’s unmatched. I went glacier hiking, explored glow worm caves, did a canyon swing in Queenstown and took on some incredible hikes. But it’s not all high adrenaline. There were so many moments of stillness too, whether it was sunrise in Milford Sound or soaking in a thermal spring after a long day on the road.
“The landscapes really are some of the most spectacular I’ve ever seen. Every time I thought we’d reached the highlight, we’d turn a corner and find another. Milford Sound, the Bay of Islands, Mount Cook, Rotorua, Tongariro, Franz Josef Glacier – it was almost overwhelming, but in the best way.
“And if you’re a Lord of the Rings fan, visiting Hobbiton is such a lovely experience. Even if you’re not, the setting is just beautiful and really thoughtfully done.
“If you’re visiting in peak season, I’d recommend planning ahead, especially when it comes to accommodation in the more remote or in-demand areas. But if you’re flexible, there’s a lot of joy in exploring more freely. New Zealand really is a place that rewards curiosity.”
