        Botanical Suite

        The Botanical Suite, once the Morning Room for Jessie Rhodes’ daily tea gatherings, features a gingerbread woodwork mantle with a wood-burning fireplace and a large bay window facing the gardens. Ground-floor access includes a private door to the gardens.
         

        The Loft Suite

        The Loft, set atop the Lodge, is a design masterpiece featuring a dramatic Schumacher Chinoiserie headboard, exclusive artwork and playful heritage touches. A cosy writer’s nook overlooks treetops, while the spacious sitting area includes a convertible sofa for extra guests.
         

        Rhodes Suite

        Once the master bedroom, the Rhodes Suite comprises four elegantly designed rooms. The grand bedroom features a Victorian fireplace, the en-suite bathroom includes a double shower and spa tub, and a private balcony provides sweeping views over the Canterbury Plains to the Southern Alps.

        Traverse Arthur’s Pass

        Departing from Rolleston Station, the TranzAlpine train climbs through the Southern Alps along the Waimakariri River to Arthur’s Pass National Park, where a guided hike reveals glacial streams, waterfalls, and possibly the rare kea parrot.

        Just an hour north of Otahuna Lodge is the North Canterbury wine district. Known for rich Pinot Noirs with liquorice notes and award-winning, zingy Rieslings, cellar doors are open for tastings at Greystone, Pegasus Bay and Black Estate.
