If you’re planning a secluded dining experience for two, an intimate dinner party or even a celebratory get-together – perhaps for an anniversary or wedding party – the venue, food and atmosphere needs to be nothing less than perfect.

We have searched through some of our favourite worldwide destinations that are well-known for exquisite and unusual gastronomy, handpicking a few stand-out private dining rooms from around the world that showcase the very best in exclusive fine dining.

Le Taillevent, Paris, France

When it comes to fine dining, most luxurious tours in the world will undoubtedly include France, and most notably, Paris.

Deemed one of the best restaurants in the City of Light, Le Taillevent is in a beautiful location just moments away from the Arc de Triomphe and just off the Champs-Elysées.

Combining effortless French style with exquisite cuisine and a vast wine list, this two-Michelin-starred historical landmark is a must-visit for both authenticity and luxury when visiting the culinary capital of the world.

Its salons are a masterclass in elegant private dining and have received distinguished guests such as esteemed French statesman, the Duke of Morny, and the emperor Napoleon III.

Salon Guimet is the smaller of the two rooms with a distinctly intimate ambience in an Asian-influenced design, seating between six and 12 guests, while Saturn is for 12 to 32 guests and embodies a more historical feel with rich Louis XVI-style period woodwork.

Cuisine here is predictably out-of-this-world, including mouth-watering langoustines and grenouilles, as well as delectable crêpes suzette and fluffy soufflés to finish your meal.

Terra at Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi

If you’re looking for the ultimate luxury holiday, then the Maldives is always a good place to start. Teeming with idyllic five-star island resort hotels, award-winning fine dining and world-class facilities and amenities, it’s one of the most desirable destinations on the planet.

One of our favourite standout dining options is located at the illustrious Waldorf Astoria on Ithaafushi private island. Not technically a room but private dining at Terra is quite special, nevertheless.

For a truly unique and romantic dining experience for two, take to the heights of the island’s tropical forest in one of the restaurant’s seven exclusive treetop bamboo nests or cocoons, which gaze out towards the ocean and over the surrounding lush canopy.

Alongside the picturesque setting, Terra enchants its diners with a bespoke seven-course menu using the finest ingredients in the world, including Norwegian poached salmon, Miyzaki wagyu beef and local Maldivian lobster.

Sala Guiseppe Mengoni, Cracco, Milan

Run by the famed Michelin-starred Italian chef, Carlo Cracco’s eponymous five-star restaurant is moments away from Milan’s landmark Duomo Cathedral and is one of the most up-and-coming restaurants in the whole of Italy.

The grand private dining room, Sala Guiseppe Mengoni, is named after the acclaimed architect who designed the historic Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II shopping arcade, in which the restaurant resides.

This beautiful sala is located on the uppermost floor and is adorned in a 1920s style of silver mirrors, velvet chairs and ornate plasterwork, and comes with its own vintage-style cocktail bar for events.

Despite being open for only four years, the restaurant offers us a glimpse of old-world splendour with typical Milanese gold detailing, high ceilings, and cool marble accents. Also, boasting a patisserie, café, chocolatier, and wine bar, the restaurant is a must-visit destination!

Noma, Copenhagen, Denmark

If minimalist, Scandi-cool is your thing then Noma’s sharp, warm wooden interiors will be perfect for you and your party.

The restaurant serves innovative ‘new Nordic’, seasonal cuisine including “seafood season” from January to spring, “vegetable season” throughout the summer months and “forest season” in the autumn.

Its all-natural private dining room features a large oak table and lofty pitched roof above.

Custom-designed chairs and lamps, a wall of shelves and a wall of floor-to-ceiling windows looking out to scenic woodlands offers diners a warm and homely feel with a luxury cabin-in-the-woods vibe. It’s the perfect place to spend a cosy yet extravagant evening.

Ultraviolet by Paul Pairet, Shanghai, China

This single-table restaurant resides in a secret location and is by far Shanghai’s most exclusive place to dine as well as being consistently voted one of the top restaurants in Asia. At its helm is chef and creator of the project, Paul Pairet, who calls it “turbulent, unpredictable, unconventional”.

Catering to only 10 diners per evening, Ultraviolet is the first restaurant of its kind and boasts multi-sensory technology to create an experience of music, aromas, videos, and simulations alongside its fascinating and ever-changing 22-course menu.

This small, boardroom-style dining room features a long table with five luxury office-style swivel chairs on either side, and comprises 30 tons of steel, seven projectors, 146 light bulbs, 56 Sennheiser speakers, and 10 HD screens generating 360-degree views.
