Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru is elegantly nestled amid a world-class Biosphere Reserve in the centre west of the Maldives, just north of the Kashidhoo Kandhoo channel. The Baa Atoll sits at the heart of ocean conservation and is a model for marine conservation excellence. In 2020, the southern atolls of Addu and Fuvahmulah were designated as Biosphere Reserves and, ultimately, the idea is for the Maldives as a whole to be granted Biosphere Reserve status. Founded by Dr. Guy Stevens, this is where you’ll find the Maldivian Manta Ray Project. So far, it has involved more than a decade of research and has become one of the world’s biggest, longest-lasting manta ray conservation projects. Educate yourself about these spectacular, harmless giants of the ocean and let your little ones discover the magic too.  Better still, visit between June and October and you can take an exciting speedboat trip to snorkel hotspots teeming with these friendly creatures.

10. Little ones are catered for

Need an afternoon off? There are playpens and strollers, baby bottles, monitors, high-chairs and bathtubs plus nappies, swimming nappies, and wipes all available at the resort. The children’s menu offers free meals for children aged under six. And if your child (aged 12 or less) has a birthday while you’re here, the resort will help you celebrate.  

11. It’s great value for money

Let’s talk about free services. There are lots. Standard Wi-Fi, daily fresh fruit, Landaa spring drinking water, coffee and tea are all free. So are self-guided yoga energy trail and daily classes, snorkelling, kayaking, windsurfing and catamaran sailing. Resort services include multilingual guest experience managers and 24 hour in-villa dining, plus guided group activities and boat or yacht rental. If you’re in a chair it’s fine. There’s wheelchair availability plus wheelchair accessible facilities.

The Watersorts Centre Offers X-Jetblades and X-Jetpacks, jet skiing, stand-up paddleboards, wakesurfing and wakeboarding, wakeskating, kneeboarding, kayaking sailing, windsurfing,  catamaran sailing and hydro foils. Want to step it up a notch? Meet the Seabob Cayago F5S, the world’s fastest underwater scooter - it’s easy to learn and totally addictive.

14. You can never have too many swimming pools

As well as private pools at the villas, there are four more splash-worthy pools to enjoy. The main infinity pool is Olympic sized - and crowned as the Maldives’ biggest. The seawater pool is self-explanatory. The sunset is there for you to marvel at from the Blu Pool, and the children’s pool, which is nice and shallow, is on hand for your little ones to enjoy safely in the Kids Club area. 

15. There are enough cruises to go around

If the boat life is for you, you’re in luck, as the resort has a plethora of cruises you can embark on whilst you’re here. The Maldives Crusoe cruise is perfect for snorkellers and serves up picnics on a desert island. There’s an overnight cruise on a private yacht complete with crew and chef - if you’re feeling fancy. A dolphin cruise teaches you all about the magical dolphin population that lives here, courtesy of a Marine Biologist. You can charter a yacht to hang out in the sunshine, get active on board with Big Game fishing, or travel in style while island hopping – the ultimate luxury.
