A Mexican adventure that stamps all over its small fishing village origins, Cancun is a luxury holiday destination that’s making huge waves in the travel world. Comprising a glitzy hotel zone, soft sandy beaches and a nightlife scene to rival party capitals Ibiza and Las Vegas, it’s the ideal location for fun-loving couples, groups of friends and hen and stag parties.
Unsurprisingly, the area’s hotel zone is where you’ll find a plethora of five-star, all-out-luxury resorts complete with private stretches of sandy beach. All-inclusive options are common, but regardless of your board, you’re guaranteed top-notch cuisine. From authentic Mexican dishes to sushi, steaks and pasta, á la carte dining and buffet-style choices are in abundance throughout the hotels. Oh, and let’s not forget the sumptuous spas, host of watersports, golf courses and tantalising cocktails that are also on offer.
After dark, Cancun comes alive… not just during the famed Spring Break period. Lively bars, many conforming to the all-you-can-drink style entry packages are copious. However, for an evening like no other, visit Coco Bongo. This show and club combined in one will tick all your entertainment boxes.
Although relatively Americanised, it’s worth mentioning that there is another side to this thriving Mexican region... a more authentic experience if you wish. Nearby are a host of excursions suitable for thrill seekers, animal lovers, water babies and culture vultures. From exploring Chichén Itzá, the world-famous complex of Mayan ruins to swimming with dolphins in an eco-archaeological park, Cancun seamlessly caters for all.
Modernised in recent years, Cancun also offers a range of extravagant shopping malls which offer both designer and high street stores alongside quirky boutiques. Las Americas Mall, La Isla Shopping Village and Luxury Avenue will make a dent in your credit card for sure.

Cancun in a nutshell

Soak Up The Culture
  • Yes, it’s a two-hour drive from Cancun’s hotel zone, but Chichén Itzá is a true marvel of beauty. A world-famous complex of Mayan ruins, it’s centre is dominated by El Castillo, a pyramid edged by steps.
  • Tulum is the site of a pre-Columbian Mayan walled city and the ruins are a sight for sore eyes. Located high on the top of tall cliffs, here you’ll find El Castillo, The Temple of the Descending God and The Temple of the Frescoes which has a first-class collection of murals.

After Dark Destinations
  • A short car journey (or walk for some) from the hotel zone lies the Cancun ‘strip’, Boulevard Kukulkan. From Hooters to world-class club Dady’O, here the party doesn’t stop until 5am.
  • For a truly out-of-this-world evening experience, head to Coco Bongo where all the thrills of a Las Vegas show are combined with chart classic hits and unlimited drinks. It has all the ingredients for a night you’ll never forget, and trust us you won’t – unless you go too hard on the tequila that is. Fusing acrobats with the area’s top dance acts, alongside a typical warehouse club setting, expect fun from the get go.
  • If you’re visiting with little ones in tow, be sure to book a seat on the evening Captain Hook Pirate Ship. A dinner and a show out at sea, you’ll have a blast with games, dancing and a buffet dinner.

  • Cancun is a hub of activity both day and night. Adventure seekers, we highly recommend you check out Xplor Park. Swim or raft through caves, spot dinosaur skeletons, drive amphibious vehicles through a challenging course – over bridges and through caves – and fly high on a thrilling zip-line course.
  • For the nature enthusiasts, visit Xel-Ha Park in Riviera Maya. Regarded as one of the world’s greatest Natural Wonders, practise your snorkelling in its myriad of cenotes, lagoons and caves. Zip-line into the refreshing water, swim with dolphins, get up close and personal with stingrays, snuba or simply kick back on the beach in one of the numerous hammocks. One thing is for certain, boredom is certainly not on the agenda here.
  • Alternatively, make use of your stunning Caribbean Sea setting and enjoy a private catamaran cruise. With multiple options available, both day and night, there’s something to suit all.
