Blue skies, friendly competition and plenty of memorable moments set the scene for another successful Winged Boots x Maddox Shoot Day at the Royal Berkshire Shooting School.
Hosted in partnership with Maddox Gallery and supported by One&Only, Edmiston, McLaren Ascot and Lotus Berkshire, the annual event brought together clients, partners and friends of Winged Boots for a day of clay shooting, exceptional hospitality and fundraising, all in support of Haven House Children's Hospice.
On Friday 19th June, guests arrived to sunshine and a warm welcome before gathering for the morning briefing. David Blundell and Mario Zonias opened proceedings, followed by a short introduction from Haven House Children's Hospice, the charity that remains at the heart of the event.
The annual shoot day has become one of the highlights of the Winged Boots calendar. More than a networking event, it is an opportunity to bring together clients, suppliers and friends while supporting a cause that provides vital care to children and families across the local community.
With teams assembled and cartridges loaded, guests headed out across the grounds of the Royal Berkshire Shooting School to take on a series of challenging clay pigeon shooting stands.
Competition was fierce from the outset, but the atmosphere remained light-hearted throughout. Experienced shooters shared tips with newcomers, plenty of friendly banter echoed between stands and there was no shortage of celebrations when difficult targets were successfully hit.
The combination of excellent company, beautiful weather and a spectacular setting made for another memorable day in the countryside.
While the shooting was the main attraction, the event offered much more than competition alone.
Throughout the day, guests enjoyed excellent hospitality and the chance to reconnect with fellow attendees, sponsors and partners. Conversations continued over refreshments between rounds, creating the relaxed atmosphere that has become synonymous with the shoot day.
Adding an extra splash of colour to the course were the now-famous pink clays, courtesy of One&Only, while a range of luxury prizes ensured there was plenty to play for beyond the leaderboard.
This year's sponsors helped elevate the occasion even further.
One&Only offered guests the chance to win a luxurious stay at One&Only Saint Géran in Mauritius through the charity prize draw, while the coveted Sharp Shooter of the Day prize included a two-night stay at One&Only Cape Town.
Maddox Gallery generously donated a framed artwork by renowned artist Will Martyr, while guests could also enter to win an omakase dining experience for two at Nobu Park Lane.
The raffle proved popular throughout the afternoon, helping raise even more money for Haven House.
As the scores were tallied, it became clear that the competition had been one of the closest in recent memory.
Team Blue Seas secured first place with an outstanding score of 381, narrowly edging out Rickety Aim Club, who finished just one point behind on 380. Pole Position & Pull completed the podium with a score of 367.
In the individual competition, David Blundell was crowned Sharp Shooter of the Day after producing an exceptional score of 82. The standard throughout the field was remarkably high, with several competitors separated by only a handful of points.
Special congratulations also go to Daniel Gibbins and the wider Team Blue Seas squad, whose consistency across the course helped secure the overall team title.
While trophies and prizes were celebrated, the biggest success story of the day belonged to Haven House Children's Hospice.
Thanks to the generosity of everyone who attended, donated and purchased raffle tickets, an incredible £9,000 was raised for the charity.
Haven House supports children and young people with life limiting and life threatening conditions, as well as their families. With around 70% of its funding coming directly from donations, events like this play an important role in helping the charity continue its vital work.
