The most Instagrammable places in Los Angeles

One of the most famous and recognisable landmarks, the Hollywood Sign is a must when you’re in LA. Originally built in 1923 for real estate, the monument signifies the rich and famous with many tourists coming from every corner of the globe just to catch a glimpse. While you can no longer hike up to the sign itself, there are plenty of spots to relish the views. The Griffith Observatory is one of the most popular ways to do so, and another Instagram moment as the building itself is equally as beautiful. The Los Angeles Country Museum of Art (LACMA) is known as the largest art museum in the western area of the United States. You’ll be pulling out your camera even before you enter the building as the entry plaza is home to an exhibit called Urban Light. Created by Chris Burden the artwork sees more than 200 cast-iron street lamps that have been lovingly restored from times gone by. No matter what your angle it’s guaranteed to be a good one, and since being installed in 2008 it’s proven to be quite a crowd pleaser. Inside there are plenty of exhibitions to spice up the instagrid such as Material Play by Zheng Chongbin which embraces contemporary art and traditional Chinese ink painting beautifully. Another must is the Miracle Mile by Robert Irwin. Showcasing the link between perception and the experience of art, the pieces are vibrant and colourful and are certain to get the likes rolling in.
 

There’s nothing like getting lost in a good book and The Last Bookstore will have you wandering through the shelves for hours. Selling both new and second-hand fiction and non-fiction, the shop itself is every literary lover’s dream with piles and piles of books everywhere you look. A real labyrinth of luxury, the store is located in downtown LA. While it can be a little tricky to get to, if you’ve mastered the public transport you’ll get there in a flash. There are more than 100,000 titles housed within the walls, and with all being $1 each you’re certain to pick up a few before you leave.
 

One of LA’s most well-loved and popular stretches of sand, Venice Beach is a must-snap for any avid sun worshipper. Muscle Beach outdoor gym can also be found here if you fancy pumping some iron accompanied by the Californian breeze, and let’s not forget the array of independent shops, boutiques and coffee bars to get acquainted with. There are also various street performers and colourful murals adding even more vibrancy to proceedings. For the quintessential LA experience we recommend renting a bike and riding down the promenade, taking in the gorgeous scenery as you go.

The Broad in LA offers all who go an eye-opening experience into the world of contemporary art. Founded by philanthropist and art collector Eli Broad, the venue has collections and exhibitions from post war right up to the modern day. There are plenty of Instagram moments that are just waiting to be discovered, with the most prominent being the Infinity Mirrored Room. Created by artist Yayoi Kusama, this mirror-lined chamber is a real sight for sore eyes and has to be seen to be believed. You can also feel like a Borrower with the Under The Table installation by Robert Therrien. Originally inspired by Lewis Carrol’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped into a whole new world complete with oversized furniture.
