Travelling once you become a parent is different to when you were child-free, that’s a fact. It’s also an opportunity to discover new places and resorts that you may have otherwise overlooked. Of course, you’ll require more baggage; be managing time differences and flight times around nap schedules; and swap lunchtime cocktails for trips to the ice cream parlour… but that’s all part of the fun.
However, do not think that having children means you’ll never get to cross certain destinations off your bucket list. Instead, we’re here to rewrite your travel tick list to one that’s suitable for all the family and will evolve with you as your littles grow too.
We’ve spoken to the experts – our experienced team of parenting personal travel managers – and have curated a list of exceptional family holidays, identifying which age group we think children would be most suitable. All you have to do is pick the one that fits your family best and go make some incredible memories.

Suitable for: Under 1s
Everyone should visit the Maldives in their lifetime. Period.
If you still want to fly long haul once becoming a mum or dad, we recommend taking the opportunity now, or waiting for your children to be of school age. Flying direct to Maldives from London takes around 11 hours, and babies under 1 will sleep for a good chunk of that. Plus, depending on their age and your cabin class, you can also request a baby bassinet for them to safely nap out of your arms - although lying flat next to you on a lie-flat bed in Business is what we truly recommend. Whether you turn left or right when boarding, if you travel before your little one turns 6 months, they probably won’t be crawling or pulling themselves up yet, so they’re less likely to become frustrated at being restrained to your seat.
Where to stay: Gili Lankanfushi
Gili Lankanfushi is one of the most baby-friendly resorts in the Maldives and its dedicated ‘Mr Friday’ butler service ensures that all your needs are met. Sterilisers, baby baths, bottle warmers… anything you may need, they’ll already have waiting for you in your spacious villa. Unfortunately, sleepless nights won’t magically disappear because you’re on holiday, but there’s no better place to be awake at 3am than on a paradisial private island with your toes in the sand, gazing out to the endless blue ocean.
It is worth mentioning that the Maldives is an excellent holiday choice for families of all ages. However, the long flight time and transfers may not be suitable for children between the ages of one and six. The destination is worth every moment of the long travel days, and the exciting list of children facilities at the resorts are endless, however be aware of speedboat and seaplane transfers upon arrival in Mále. Speak to one of our experienced personal travel managers to discover more private islands that are suitable for children of different ages and best fit your family’s needs.

Suitable for: 0+
Greece is a fantastic family destination, that appeals to a wide range of ages. Travel days are manageable, with just a four-hour flight time, and the weather offers a balmy temperature and glorious sunshine from May to October. The mainland and its horde of islands provide ample opportunity for exploration, and while a day trip is a great option, we recommend planning a multi-centre holiday that teams beautiful beaches with ancient history and plenty of authentic Greek cuisine.
Where to stay: Ikos Kissamos, Crete.
Ikos Resorts has a collection of eight all-inclusive, family-orientated resorts in Europe; six of which are in Greece. All offer an undisputed five-star service that appeals to families of all sizes. The dining is curated by Michelin-starred chefs, however the all-inclusive concept spans past the hotel’s walls and includes a range of local eateries, too. For children, there’s an expansive kids’ club as well as an array of children-first facilities including spa treatments, evening entertainment, water sports and seasonal football camps run by ex-professional players.
Ikos Kissamos is the newest resort - opening in 2026 - and the first for Crete. It boasts a backdrop of rugged mountains and is located on a spectacular stretch of coastline that combines sandy shores with hidden coves. There’s plenty to discover nearby too, and with Ikos’ Local Discovery offering – the opportunity to explore the island via a Mini Cooper and culture pass, all included within your stay – theirs is plenty to keep all ages and interests occupied.

Suitable for: 4 – 8-year-olds
Nothing is more magical than being a parent at Christmas and seeing the season through your child’s eyes. And a visit to snow-strewn Finland in December should be on most families bucket list. Expect sleigh rides with real Rudolph and co, gingerbread decorating with Mrs Claus, husky rides chasing the Aurora, visits to Santa’s toy factory and post office, plus all the usual fun that nature and snow provide. Think Sledging, snow angels, snowball fights and more. Good ol’ fashioned family fun that’ll provide a talking point at gatherings for years to come.
Where to stay: Arctic TreeHouse Hotel
Just steps away from Santa Claus Village in Rovaniemi, Arctic TreeHouse Hotel is a fantastic base for your winter wonderland adventure. Its collection of unique suites combine Nordic design with luxury amenities and provide a comforting haven and escape from the snow beyond. But what sets this hotel apart from the rest is easily its floor to ceiling windows that frame the scenic woodlands beyond. The views alone will steal your heart and have you never wanting to leave.

Few family holidays rival the shared triumph of a ski trip — and from the age of six, children are typically ready for ski school, eager to master their turns and proudly show off their progress. Courchevel 1850, the jewel of Les Trois Vallées, pairs impeccably groomed pistes with effortless glamour, making it one of the most rewarding alpine destinations for families.
Days are spent carving wide, sun-drenched runs, hot chocolates in hand between lessons, while evenings bring cosy firesides and Savoyard suppers. The resort’s exceptional ski schools and perfect lift system ensure confidence builds quickly, allowing parents their own time on the slopes too.
Where to stay: Aman Le Mélézin
Set directly on the Bellecôte piste, Aman Le Mélézin offers rare ski-in, ski-out access — invaluable when travelling with children and all the accompanying equipment. Spacious interconnecting rooms and suites provide flexibility for families, while the concierge team can arrange private ski instructors, equipment fittings in-house and luxury transfers to and from ski school.
Younger guests are warmly welcomed, with tailored dining options, early supper arrangements and thoughtful touches that make them feel considered rather than accommodated. There may not be a dedicated kids’ club, thoughtfully arranged childcare and private nanny services are available, allowing parents to enjoy an unhurried evening while little ones rest after an active day on the slopes. Meanwhile, parents can retreat to the tranquil Aman Spa or enjoy refined Japanese cuisine, knowing everything has been handled with quiet precision.
Other incredible European ski resorts include Crans-Montana, Verbier and Zermatt in Switzerland or Val d'Isére in France.

Few destinations capture a child’s imagination quite like Orlando. From the age of eight, children are tall enough, brave enough and, crucially, old enough to truly remember the magic. This is when the big rides become exhilarating rather than overwhelming, and long park days feel thrilling instead of tiring.
Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort are the undeniable highlights and when planned properly, it becomes far more than queues and character meet-and-greets. Think private VIP guides who navigate the parks seamlessly, behind-the-scenes experiences, and early park access that allows you to step into the wizarding world before the crowds descend.
Beyond the parks, Orlando surprises. Championship golf courses, airboat rides through the Everglades, NBA games, designer shopping and polished dining options ensure parents are just as entertained. And with spacious villas and resort residences available, multi-generational trips work beautifully here too.
Where to stay: Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World® Resort
Set within the exclusive Golden Oak community, Four Seasons Resort Orlando offers calm away from the crowds while remaining moments from the action. There’s an expansive water park, a complimentary kids’ club and refined dining, alongside impeccable service that arranges everything from park transfers to dining reservations. After a high-energy day, returning to understated luxury – perhaps with fireworks views from your terrace – is the perfect ending.

Here, ancient temples sit beside neon-lit skyscrapers; bullet trains glide past Mount Fuji; and centuries-old rituals unfold with quiet precision.
Tokyo dazzles with its energy, from teamLab digital art installations to sushi-making workshops and anime culture. In Kyoto, families can wander through bamboo forests, learn the art of the tea ceremony, or spot geishas slipping through lantern-lit streets. Universal Studios Japan adds a dose of high-octane fun, balancing heritage with play.

For families with teenagers, Canada offers the kind of scale and freedom that the usual all-inclusive family holidays could never compete with. From the age of fourteen, long driving days become part of the adventure. Think windows down, playlists on, and vast landscapes unfolding mile after mile. This is travel that invites independence, without sacrificing togetherness. Instead, escaping the humdrum of routine and being spontaneous by stopping when you see a cool viewpoint or detouring from the planned route to visit a viral spot is exactly how you’ll earn some cool parent points. TikTok dances, optional.
In the Canadian Rockies, turquoise lakes shimmer beneath snow-dusted peaks; wildlife sightings become daily conversation starters; and gentle hikes, canoeing and helicopter tours bring perspective to the sheer magnitude of nature. Pair Banff and Lake Louise with the cosmopolitan ease of Vancouver for a journey that balances wilderness with city sophistication.
Where to stay: Fairmont Banff Springs
Known as the ‘Castle in the Rockies’, Fairmont Banff Springs stands proud amongst Banff National Park’s natural wilderness. The hotel blends heritage grandeur with modern comforts and ample opportunity for seasonal activities such as golf in the spring and summer and ski during winter. The hotel also boasts a wealth of private experiences, totally tailored to its guests – an ideal way for families to mark a milestone or make memories that’ll last a lifetime. After days spent exploring glaciers and pine forests, returning to the hotel’s alpine warmth, perhaps for a restorative spa visit or delicious meal in one of its many exceptional restaurants, is the perfect way to end the day. After a few days of luxury, hopping back in the rental to explore Canada’s next corner won’t be easy… but the time spent together surrounded by nature will be worth it.

For families with older teenagers, few journeys feel quite as extraordinary as the Galápagos. Remote, raw and wonderfully removed from everyday life, this is travel that sparks curiosity and conversation in equal measure. From around fourteen, children are mature enough to appreciate both the privilege and the profundity of exploring one of the most protected ecosystems on earth.
Your journey may begin in Ecuador’s colonial capital, Quito, where cobbled streets and Andean peaks set the tone for adventure. From there, the Galápagos Islands unfold via expedition yacht - each day revealing a new volcanic shoreline, hidden lagoon or wildlife encounter. Snorkel alongside sea lions, kayak through mangroves, walk among giant tortoises and blue-footed boobies, and listen as expert naturalists bring Darwin’s discoveries vividly to life.
This is not a holiday of poolside distractions. It’s immersive, active and quietly transformative - ideal for teenagers on the cusp of adulthood, ready to see the world differently. And the Galápagos is more than a destination; it’s a perspective-shifting chapter in your family’s story; one that lingers long after you’ve returned home.
Where to stay: Aqua Mare
For a more intimate and design-led expedition, Aqua Mare offers one of the most exclusive ways to explore the Galápagos. Accommodating just 16 guests, this superyacht-style vessel blends the spirit of adventure with the polish of a private charter. Suites are generously proportioned — ideal for families travelling together — while social spaces feel refined yet relaxed.
Twice-daily guided excursions with expert naturalists bring each island vividly to life. Back on board, gourmet dining and personalised service ensure the experience feels tailored to each guest and indulgent without detracting from the authenticity of the destination.

An African safari is one of those rare holidays that feels just as thrilling for parents as it does for children. From young teens, children are typically ready for early morning game drives, patient wildlife tracking and the quiet anticipation that builds before spotting lion, elephant or cheetah in the wild.
Begin in Nairobi with a stay that sets the tone for something extraordinary, before venturing into the Maasai Mara - where golden savannahs stretch endlessly and each day unfolds differently. Guided by expert rangers, you can learn to read the land, follow fresh tracks and understand the delicate rhythm of the ecosystem, as a family. Evenings bring storytelling by the fire, stargazing beneath vast African skies and the kind of digital detox that feels entirely natural.
For families seeking both wonder and perspective, a Kenyan safari is more than a holiday — it’s a shared awakening to the wild.
Where to stay: Giraffe Manor
Giraffe Manor offers a whimsical and wonderfully memorable start. Resident Rothschild giraffes wander the grounds and famously join guests at breakfast, creating the kind of magical moments you’ll never forget. Family rooms provide space to settle in after travel, and visits to the nearby elephant orphanage add meaningful context to the experience.
After a few days in Nairobi, we recommend flying to the Maasai Mara for an authentic safari experience. Reside in a luxury tented lodge and enjoy daily game drives and bush walks looking for the Big Five.
