Trinidad and Tobago Carnival

When: February 16-17, 2026


Trinidad and Tobago Carnival is the Caribbean’s largest carnival celebration and is widely known as “The Greatest Show on Earth.” The season begins well before the main parade days, with cornerstone events such as Panorama, the national steelband competition; Calypso and Soca Monarch finals; and the Kings and Queens of the Bands, which showcase the most striking and intricate costumes of the year.


J’ouvert, held in the early hours of Carnival Monday, marks the beginning of two intense days of celebration. Participants take to the streets before sunrise covered in mud, paint, oil or cocoa, moving behind steelbands or music trucks in an uninhibited expression of freedom that stretches back generations.


Carnival Monday features lighter, personalised attire known as 'Monday Wear', while Carnival Tuesday delivers the full Parade of the Bands, where masqueraders pass through the city’s judging points in vibrant, meticulously crafted costumes. Aruba Carnival

When: January to February 2026 (Grand Parade: February 22)

When: July 3-August 4, 2026 (Grand Kadooment: August 3)
 

What began as a sugarcane harvest celebration has evolved into Barbados’ most iconic cultural festival. Crop Over now spans a month of music, visual art, culinary showcases and costumed pageantry, culminating in Grand Kadooment – a full-day masquerade parade through Bridgetown, where bands of revellers dance behind music trucks to infectious soca beats under the Caribbean sun.

Carriacou Carnival, Grenada

When: February 11-17, 2026


Carriacou Carnival, known locally as Kayak Mas, is one of the Caribbean’s most culturally rich and traditional pre-Lenten celebrations. Held on Grenada’s sister isle, the festivities are a vibrant blend of African and European heritage, most vividly expressed through Shakespeare Mas. This captivating tradition sees costumed participants deliver lines from Shakespeare’s plays in spirited, theatrical combat on the streets. The celebration also features Jab Jab revellers, colourful costume bands, and the infectious rhythms of J’ouvert, where early-morning processions come alive with drumming and dance.
