First look: Beyond the lobby at The Royal Atlantis Resort & Residences

  • Published 18 December 2019

A sister resort to the famous Atlantis, The Palm is set to open soon… and we can’t wait to try out the new entertainment destination. Located next door on the crescent of The Palm, together the two properties will span 63 hectares of land – which is roughly the size of 155 football pitches – and will comprise 45 restaurants and bars, including 8 celebrity chef restaurants. What’s more, together the two resorts will boast 92 swimming pools and 2 spa and fitness facilities with a whopping 42 treatment rooms.

So now you know the numbers, let’s introduce the hotel. Enter The Royal Atlantis Resort & Residences, a 43 storey-high resort that is architecturally stunning. Think luxury rooms and suites that stack like a game of Jenga overlooking the twinkling Arabian Gulf complete with lush green spaces and a rooftop swimming pool. Its highlights include one of the largest jellyfish tanks in the world at the Lobby Bar alongside 17 restaurants and a selection of residences that feature up to five bedrooms.

There’s a level of individuality throughout the rooms and suites with 82 different floorplans across all 795 accommodation options, however it’s clear that comfort is at the core of the guest rooms – but don’t think that comfortable means any less luxurious! On the contrary, the residences have been designed by Paris-based interior design house Sybille de Margerie and focus on imagination, innovation and style. Located on the east wing of the development, there are 231 residential homes comprising two, three, four and five-bedrooms including Skycourts, Penthouses and Garden Suites, ideal for extended stays and large groups.

The additional dining destinations is what sets The Royal Atlantis Resort & Residences apart from the rest. 17 new restaurants and bars are set to open alongside the hotel including world-renowned Hakkasan and Dinner by Heston Blumenthal. The first Middle Eastern venture for the experimental British chef, this new restaurant will offer a menu of contemporary dishes inspired by historic British recipes.

Take A Dip

Swimming Pool at The Royal Atlantis Resort & Residences

The Royal Atlantis Resort & Residences is certainly the top spot in the emirate to cool from the heat. With 92 pools available, choosing where to pitch up isn’t going to be easy. But if you want our opinion, head for the chic infinity rooftop Sky Pool that spans 90 metres in length almost 96 metres above The Palm, a first for the manmade island.
