        Located 250 km north of the Arctic Circle in Finnish Lapland, Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort is just a 30-minute drive from Ivalo Airport. A stone's throwaway from Finland's largest national park, Urho Kekkonen National Park, this hotel is in a true wilderness. The nearest town is Saariselkä, 10 km away. Seasonal visits to see the Northern Lights are very popular; however, be sure to travel between the months of September and October, or February through March, to catch a glimpse.

Log cabins have separate bedrooms with twin beds for the little ones and the Kelo-Glass cabin adds an extra layer of wonder for them to gaze at the night sky.
        You can pack lighter than you think for a stay at Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort, even in the depths of an Arctic winter. The hotel has winter overalls, rain clothes and rubber boots available for hire as well as skis, snowshoes, sleds and bicycles. Just let them know your sizes in advance so they can have your gear ready for you.
        Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort is open all year round except for May. Some accommodations, like the glass igloos, are open seasonally for the Northern Lights. This is from late August until the end of April.
