    Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort is a family hotel 250 km north of the Arctic Circle in Finnish Lapland. Right in the heart of the wilderness, this unique hotel offers bucket list-worthy stays in cosy glass-roofed igloos, from which you can glimpse the stars and Northern Lights. Chalets, honeymoon suites, and the new Kelo-Glass chalet, a cross between a log cabin and a glass igloo, are available.

        Glass Igloos

        Available from the end of August through to April, the Glass Igloos give you the chance to relish the Northern Lights from your bed. The two-person igloos also have a toilet with saunas and showers in a separate building. 

        Log Chalets

        The cosy Log Chalets are made from thick kelo pines and are ideal for groups and families. Varying in space to accommodate up to 10 people, furnishings are inspired by the wild surroundings, with a fireplace and a sauna included. 

        Gold Digger’s Chalet

        With the Gold Digger’s Chalet standing further away from the hotel than the rest of the accommodation, this choice promises tranquillity. There’s a private sauna and a kick sled in the yard, so you can get to the main hotel quickly.

        Delicious dining

        Dine beneath the northern lights with rustic elegance. Think hearty Lappish stews, freshly caught arctic fish and reindeer dishes served fireside in cosy log cabins. It’s authentic Finnish fare, warmed by tradition and a whisper of wild adventure.

        West Village Aurora Restaurant

        West Village Aurora Restaurant is available to all guests on the other side of the hotel. Alongside a seasonal a la carte menu of Lappish classics, it also has the famous glass igloo bar, adding a unique experience to your aperitif.
         

        Private Events Restaurants

        Kakslauttanen has three restaurant venues reserved for private events. These include the Santa Claus Celebration House, Korsu "The Underground" Restaurant and the Smoke Sauna Restaurant. These are ideal venues for groups, parties, weddings and corporate dinners with the wow factor.

        A world of experiences

        With three on-site smoke saunas you can detox your mind and body before heading out on the day's excursions. Families and big kids will adore the chance to see Santa, too. If that wasn’t enough, spa and massage services are available.

        Visit Santa’s Home

        Unlatching the doors of his little red home to the public, all guests can make a trip to see Santa Claus at the end of a walking bridge that takes you across a narrow river. Book in advance to avoid disappointment.
         

        Do a sauna session

        The hotel has three smoke saunas, the largest of which is the biggest in the world. Combined, 100 people can take advantage of the wellness sanctuary, and there's a jetty nearby that you can jump off and enjoy a cold paddle.

        There is a huge variety of experiences you can do. From seeing the Northern Lights by horseback in autumn to snowmobiling in winter and embarking on a river cruise in summer, adventure lovers will have the time of their lives. 

        Located 250 km north of the Arctic Circle in Finnish Lapland, Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort is just a 30-minute drive from Ivalo Airport. A stone's throwaway from Finland's largest national park, Urho Kekkonen National Park, this hotel is in a true wilderness. The nearest town is Saariselkä, 10 km away. Seasonal visits to see the Northern Lights are very popular; however, be sure to travel between the months of September and October, or February through March, to catch a glimpse.

        Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort is an excellent choice for families. Kids will love meeting Santa in his home and having magical experiences like riding reindeer-pulled sleighs at Christmas. Log cabins have separate bedrooms with twin beds for the little ones and the Kelo-Glass cabin adds an extra layer of wonder for them to gaze at the night sky.
        You can pack lighter than you think for a stay at Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort, even in the depths of an Arctic winter. The hotel has winter overalls, rain clothes and rubber boots available for hire as well as skis, snowshoes, sleds and bicycles. Just let them know your sizes in advance so they can have your gear ready for you.
        Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort is open all year round except for May. Some accommodations, like the glass igloos, are open seasonally for the Northern Lights. This is from late August until the end of April.
