Barefoot luxury is the term the resort has coined to describe itself – and that’s a pretty perfect summary. Expect no frills, no excessive tech or overly indulgent extras, this luxury resort is designed to make you feel at one with nature, despite being in a superior and utterly private holiday sanctuary.

With just 11 villas, and everyone arriving by helicopter, this is deliberately discreet and has an overwhelming air of colonial romance, with wood and white linen being the main features of the décor.

  • 11 generously sized villas
  • Private island setting
  • Stunning out-of-the-way setting for watersports, nature, and romantic relaxation

Our Expert View:

“There’s something rather unique about the North Island and the way its four beaches migrate on a seasonal pattern. Ask the staff to advise you which is best for shelter, swimming or sunbathing when you’re there.”

ACCOMMODATION

When there’s only 11 villas at a resort, it would be natural to assume that the company can afford to make these homes feel pretty special – and they certainly do! All of the accommodations are generous in size, and despite still feeling in-keeping with a nature-sympathetic ethos, they’re complete with plenty of luxuries, making you feel like you’ve borrowed a special and exclusive haven.

Beachfront Villas

  • 4,843ft2
  • Ocean View

Think open-plan living, flowing curtains, divine bedding, handcrafted wooden furniture, and some sophisticated designer touches to match. You’ll have your own pool, direct access to the blissfully white sandy beaches and of course, your own silent electric buggy to help you get around.

Villa North Island

  • 8,073ft2
  • Ocean View

There’s just one of this particular villa type (also classed as Villa 11). It’s at the far end of the East Beach and grants you more than 8,000 ft² of privacy and luxury. You’ll enjoy a marble bathtub, sumptuous bed, private decks and pool. Designed for couples this villa is ideal for honeymooners.

Location

  • North island is with the inner granite islands of the Seychelles, and a helicopter ride from mainland Mahé. It does feel more remote, which is why it has been considered such a natural paradise. As an FYI, you may also read North Island referred to as Ile du Nord.

DINING

Dine in utter selfish privacy (and who would blame you) in your beautiful villa, barefoot on the beach with the sound of the ocean lapping at the shore, or at one of the dedicated eateries designed to tantalise your taste buds.

Whichever your preference, the food is focused around what is labelled as the island’s ‘daily harvest’ of produce, and served with care and detail guaranteed

The Piazza

  • International
  • Casual
  • No

If you’re lucky you may get to witness turtles emerging from the ocean as you dine here. This is a great setting for a romantic evening, and you can expect a superb array of fresh fish including squid ink linguini with lobster, or local octopus. Now that’s holiday dining!

LEISURE

While it would be easy to give the impression this is a ‘do nothing,’ back-to-nature resort where your main option is to lay on beautiful white beaches, there really is a huge amount on offer here – including for kids.

If you can tear yourself away from your enormous villa, there’s plenty of scope to learn about the environment, tailor a watersport technique, or just disappear on foot or by bike to see more of the island.

Escape on an excursion

You’ll find the people of the Seychelles are really keen to share the beauty of their culture and heritage. This means, they’re incredibly hospitable, and particularly happy to organise you day-away excursions.

Yes, we know that means leaving your sumptuous villa, but you could take a day trip to see Mahé in all its glory, go wreck diving, explore Praslin, or one of a number of other fascinating and worthwhile options. There are fully-equipped guest boats ready to host you.

Stand up and be counted

Time to test your balance and the strength of your core. If you’ve never tried stand up paddling previously, then now is the perfect time to give it a go.

It’s a great workout, and with the on-site dive centre able to offer this leisure activity throughout your stay, it’s a perfect chance to challenge yourself (or hone skills you’ve picked up on cooler waters back home). Remember when you’ve put yourself through your paddle paces, that sumptuous villa with optional in-room spa treatments awaits your weary body.
