Husky sledding through the arctic

Huskies are one of the most endearing, playful and intelligent dog breeds, and now you get the chance to be around these cute creatures while they pull you through the arctic wilderness. When visiting Scandinavia, you simply must experience a husky sled.

The northern city and cultural melting pot of Tromsø will be the starting point to your experience, where you’ll be picked up in a private transfer and travel to a husky farm on the island of Kvaløya. As the fifth largest island in Norway, adventure comes second nature here with whale watching, climbing and hiking favourite pastimes of visitors. But the chance to unwind with furry friends and then experience their sledding skills cannot be beaten.

You’ll meet approximately 300 Alaskan huskies, both working dogs and their adorable puppies. These dogs are lovingly cared for and trained, so you can play with them at ease. After getting your fill of canine love, hop aboard a two-passenger sled with your travel partner and feel the twists and turns of the Norwegian country as the dogs pull you along. You’ll cut through the blanket of snow with the group of huskies in front of you eagerly getting back to what they do best.

We’re sure you would’ve built an appetite once the ride comes to an end, so you’ll be met with a lunch of traditional reindeer stew, or a vegetarian option, to be devoured around the campfire. With your thermal suits and boots provided along with the warming flames, keeping toasty in the freezing temperatures won’t be a problem.

WINGED BOOTS WISDOM

Did you know that huskies were born to run? Alaskans have been using them for thousands of years, and their size, stamina and strength makes them ideal to deal with the icy temperatures. Make sure to ask your guide any questions about these animals.
