LEISURE

You’d think that being in the middle of a game reserve would mean that your list of things to do would be limited to sitting in a 4x4 all day and staring out at the veld, wouldn’t you? Well, you’d be wrong. You absolutely will be spending much of your time on thrilling game drives but there are a host of other activities available for you to indulge in such as a spa day, water fights in your private pool or a visit to the wildlife rehabilitation centre. Everything here is designed to make your holiday one that you will never forget.

Save a life today

The Shamwari Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre is one of the most popular facilities at this reserve and is a must-see for any guests making a stop here. A passion for conservation of both the nature and the animals of the park led to the creation of this centre which ensures that sick, injured, abandoned or otherwise problematic animals are properly cared for. The professional veterinary team nurse animals back to health then make sure that they are released back into their natural habitat and carefully monitored so they are sure the animals have made a full recovery.

Guests of the reserve have the opportunity to visit this miracle centre and see the animals close-up as well as observing treatments such as feeding.

Take a walk on the wild side

Not only does Shamwari offer amazing, five-star accommodation but also astounding safari experiences throughout the day and night. Sure to be a highlight in your stay here, the wildlife park offers spectacular game drives through the part, headed by knowledgeable guides whose passion will get you going too. Early morning and evening is the most common time for a game drive as this is when the animals are at their most active. If you need the last member of the Big Five to complete your list or have a particular enthusiasm for, say, lions your guides will be pleased to tailor the drive to your desires.

Awaken your Senses

An escape to Shamwari Game Reserve will provide more than just a secluded accommodation but also a chance to really relax in this fantastic setting with a trip to the safari spa. The experience of treatments at this reserve is one of total tranquillity, revitalisation and complete rejuvenation that will leave you glowing from head to toe. So, let your mind, body and soul all have a holiday at once in the expert hands of the on-site therapists.
