Foodies and lovers of the arts will be thrilled to discover that Baha Mar is set to present The Bahamas Culinary & Arts Festival for a second year. This unforgettable weekend brings guests and locals together to embark on a culinary and cultural experience with a fantastic programme of events, exclusive dinners, tastings with chefs, intimate conversations with artists and much more.

Located on the powder white sands of Nassau’s Cable Beach, Rosewood Baha Mar is the perfect hotel to assist in hosting such a spectacular event, with a key focus on local art, culture, food and people. Expect an unparalleled line up of world class Bahamian chefs, performers and artists who are coming together to celebrate the best of The Bahamas.

The truffle dinner with Daniel Boulud

Kickstarting in October, the now annual event will start with a decadent truffle dinner hosted by renowned chef Daniel Boulud. As well as introducing himself to guests, they will experience tableside service where he will grate fresh white truffle straight onto their dish. The Michelin-starred French chef’s passion is unrivalled when it comes to Bahamian food.

“…We embrace the local ingredients… that express a certain lightness, a certain freshness, a spiciness… For example, Antoine showed me how he adopted the coconut into a dish, trying to capture the memory of a roasted chestnut…It definitely takes you back home to where, in the fall, we roast chestnuts. But we are in the Caribbean. We are in The Bahamas, and we are roasting coconuts instead of chestnuts.”

Highlights from the 2022 line up

With the weekend schedule yet to be revealed we shine a light on some of our favourite highlights from 2022:

The welcome party

The drinks were certainly flowing thanks to chef Marcus Samuelsson who put on the Sundown & Sips event presented by Grey Goose Essence. It was an exclusive sunset welcome to weekend pass holders with all-inclusive food and beverages. The welcome beach party then officially started on Baha Bay’s Beach Lagoon featuring guest chefs and a very special performance from Boyz II Men.

Intimate chef experiences

The weekend contained numerous chances to interact with local chefs in a personal setting. Wine lovers revelled in a delectable pairing session where bite size delights were enjoyed with the most exceptional Italian wine. The session was hosted by world-renowned Italian chef and butcher Dario Cecchini and wine editor of Food & Wine Magazine Ray Isle. Guests also had the chance to hop on board a luxury catamaran with chefs Marcus Samuelsson and Simeon Hall Jr. An intimate lunch followed, serving the freshest seafood in The Bahamas in a sea to table experience.

Baha Mar Collection Tour

Ran by artist, curator and community builder John Cox, guests were invited on a tour for an insight into the cultural significance of key work displayed in Baha Mar’s jaw-dropping art collection. John Cox is the executive director of arts and culture at Baha Mar with a true love for the local work.

"I think the most compelling thing about the art in The Bahamas is the variety… it’s also the juxtaposition of how artists in so many different ways are able to harness Bahamian life and experiences and tell those stories in a kind of contemporary global language.”
