Expert chefs are at your service for breakfast, lunch and dinner, tirelessly working on drool-worthy dishes made using only the freshest local ingredients.

Dinner is always a standout occasion. Hundreds of softly glowing lanterns hang in the trees above you as you sit outdoors awaiting your evening meal. This magical atmosphere is only enhanced by the star quality of the food. Always keeping you in mind, the team of chefs at this reserve are happy to amend the menus to any dietary requirements whether you’re vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free or otherwise restricted. So, sit back and relax without a worry in your mind about where the next meal is coming from.

LEISURE

Adventure is right at the heart of every activity at Lion Sands from adrenaline-fuelled walking safaris to a night under the stars in one of the reserve’s magical treehouses. With daily opportunities to get up close and personal with South Africa’s Big Five (lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants and buffalos) you are sure to have a thrilling time from check-in to departure. Life at this reserve isn’t all go, go, go

though – with an on-site Africology spa and private plunge pools in every villa, you have ample opportunity to just take it easy too. If you’re like us and just can’t decide between all the amazing activities on offer, the reserve will be happy to provide a helpful bucket list of things you simply have to do before you leave.

Give yourself a little TLC

Each lodge on the reserve has an on-site Africology spa so you never have to look far for a little relaxation. Expert therapists will massage, moisturise and polish every inch of you until you feel like an entirely new person, using a range of luxury body, skin and beauty products.

If you want to feel fabulous throughout your stay without hopping in the spa every day, why not enjoy some yoga at sunrise? Or make use of the hotel’s state-of-the-art gym equipment and sweat it out while overlooking the wilderness of the savannah below you.

Spread out under the stars

For a truly exceptional evening, spend a night in one of the Sabi Sands breathtaking treehouse accommodations. Particularly effective for those with a feel for romance, this experience is not one to be missed. Guests are led to their treehouse at sunset and greeted by a decadent picnic dinner surrounded by candlelit lanterns, creating a rosy glow that is sure to set the right mood. After a full orientation from your guide, you will be left alone to enjoy the seclusion and digital detox downtime of this remote apartment. Take it all in from the heights as you lie on a bed covered by nothing but an elegant mosquito net with only the Milky Way for a ceiling.

Do you dare?

The most obvious, but undoubtedly the best, of activities at Lion Sands has got to be its world-class game drives, walks and night-time safaris. With experiences and highly professional guides, rangers and trackers leading you every step of the way, you can be sure that this experience will be an unforgettable one. Game drives are conducted in Lion Sands exclusive 4x4 safari vehicles which guests can exclusively hire seating up to six guests at a time. Drives and walks take place in the early mornings and evenings when the local wildlife is at its most active. Night safaris take place after the sun goes down and that’s when the fun really starts – but don’t be scared, your knowledgeable guides have done this a hundred time before.
